HEALTH AND NUTRITION

A healthy lifestyle, a good health and a balanced, sufficient diet are essential to have the energy and resources needed to attend school and build a quality future.
A child who is sick or has an empty stomach will not go to school, or will not have the regularity needed to reach their full potential.

DAILY HYGIENE

At the Centre, each child has a daily shower. We provide clean clothes and toothbrushes to be used on site or taken home. This holistic approach to hygiene promotes the children's wellbeing and helps to maintain their health at the highest possible level.

We teach children to wash their hands and brush their teeth.

On a regular basis, our team and volunteers organize fun workshops and exercises to raise children's awareness of these essential practices.

HEALTH FOR EVERYONE

We believe in the importance of good health for all the children in our care. Every child has the right to at least one annual check-up with a dentist, not only to prevent costly dental problems, but also to educate children about the importance of dental care. Our charity covers the additional costs of dental care when necessary. If there is a medical need, we ensure that the children are seen by a doctor who can prescribe the necessary treatment and medication.

Every day after lunch, children are offered 90 minutes of rest time. During this time, the youngest children who are still old enough to take a nap and those who are sleep-deprived have the opportunity to rest and recharge their batteries.

BALANCED NUTRITION

Every day, breakfast, a balanced meal and a snack are served at the Centre. In the morning, our cook goes to the market with 1 or 2 children or teenagers who help her with the shopping and learn how to compose a balanced meal.

Two members of the team and the children assigned to this task are responsible for preparing the meal.

Simple gestures that allow children to learn how to cook for a large group of gourmets.

An average of 45 lunches are served every day at the Centre. Each meal includes rice, meat or fish (or eggs), vegetables and fruit. We also provide sufficient drinking water for all the children. This balanced approach to nutrition is designed to ensure the good health and vitality of the children in our care.
