Scout Group Volunteer for 2 weeks - 2023
Hi! We're the Green Team, a team of 5 French Scouts who spent two weeks with Enfants de Klang Leu. We'll tell you all about it!
"The welcome at the Centre on our first day, what an arrival !!!! The children welcomed us with open arms, hugged us, greeted us and helped us carry our bags to our rooms after a long journey. Young and old, with smiles on their faces, amazed me with so much happiness and enthusiasm!" -Magali
"I remember this warm and incredible arrival at EKL marked by the benevolence of the children and the staff." -Jeanne
We shared in the daily life of EKL and in activities such as treasure hunts, Olympics and beach days. And despite the often difficult daily routine for the children, once through the doors of the Centre, we were able to dance and dance again, sing, laugh, play football and volleyball, do puzzles and memory games, draw...
"They were running around and being very energetic but once we got into an activity, they were 100% into it and it was really great to see!" -Camille
We were also able to help Li-Ya, Vann, Sopheak and Tevi who look after the Centre to make it warm and welcoming for the children
""This assignment with EKL was an incredible experience. I came away with a head full of good memories. I loved the times I was able to help Li-Ya in the kitchen. They were very simple moments of sharing, but very enriching." -Marion
We were afraid that the language barrier would be an obstacle, but in fact everyone took a step towards each other quite easily. Non-verbal communication often says more than words.
"The few weeks I spent at EKL enriched me enormously on a human level. What amazed me was that, despite the language barrier, we were able to communicate so easily with all the people working at the Centre, as well as with the children.
Gestures, but above all smiles, were our means of communication." -Daphné
With EKL, we discovered and met, shared and learned, laughed and grew. Cambodian culture is rich, and the encounters we had at the Centre were even richer.
Many thanks to EKL and the children for these unforgettable moments!
